Hello everyone!
It's time for another Inside Lumos: The Dying Light™ article! This time, I'll be talking about the shadow creatures that exist in the world of LumosTDL.
The world of LumosTDL is a world in which everything revolves around the concept of light. We have Lights which are made up of photons, and we have the Shadows which exist from the absence of photons. Oh, and photons are the basic units of light in this world; analogous to atoms in our world. In this article, I will be focusing on the Shadows, the aggressors in Lumos: The Dying Light.
There are three basic types of Shadows namely: Darkmites, Spectres, and Tendrils.
Darkmites
Darkmites are the rodents of this world. They have a short lifespan and are constantly on the hunt for Lights. To offset their short lives, they reproduce quickly, and are able to overwhelm their prey through sheer force of numbers. Due to their short-lived existence, the outer shell of their bodies do not have time to develop, thus forming only a thin layer of gooey skin. Because of this, they easily die from tap gestures.
There are four common types of Darkmites, which we shall be calling Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. (creative no? :p)
Level 1 Darkmites die from a single tap. They are pesky little creatures, but they can pass under your radar and sting you like an annoying little mosquito. You shouldn't take these guys lightly.
Level 2 Darkmites also die from a single tap. However, they each leave behind a Level 1 offspring upon death.
Level 3 Darkmites also die from a single tap. However, they each leave behind three Level 2 offsprings upon death. (I have a feeling you already know what's coming next :D)
Level 4 Darkmites also die from a single tap (surprise!). However, they each leave behind 4 (four!) Level 3 offsprings upon death. (Those with awesome math skills should be able to calculate the total number of Level 1's that can spawn from a single Level 4 :p) But wait! There's more! Not only do they spawn Level 3's, they also shoot bullets!
How's that for annoying?
Spectres
Spectres are the most resilient of the three and have evolved differently than Darkmites. They have longer lifespans and have developed thicker skins compared to Darkmites, which makes them a tough creature to repel. They use their long tentacle-like appendage to propel themselves quickly in order to capture their prey without fail and when agitated, they fold their tentacle-like appendage as a defense mechanism. Though their skins are very thick, they have one glaring weakness: their skins cannot hold together and will deteriorate when moving at very high speeds. So in order to defeat these creatures, one must flick them away.
Similar to Darkmites, Spectres also have four common types, which we shall also call Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
Level 1 Spectres cannot handle deterioration very well, and will die from a single flick.
Level 2 Spectres are hardier than Level 1's. They will die after two flicks.
Level 3 Spectres are very annoying, and they always come back for more. They can withstand up to two stages of deterioration and will die after 3 flicks.
Level 4 Spectres are the most annoying and the most resilient of the bunch. Their skins have adapted slightly to high velocity movement and can withstand up to three stages of deterioration. They will die after 4 (four!) flicks. May your chosen deity have mercy on you when you encounter these creatures.
Tendrils
Tendrils are further up in the evolution chain. They originated from Darkmites that had a symbiotic relationship with each other and eventually became a single creature. They have a very unique way of moving in which they wiggle like a worm. This movement confuses their prey, which makes them easier to catch. Their bodies are made up of several segments, which are bonded together by small forces. These forces can be broken a quick flash of light, which is why the only way to defeat these creatures is by slashing them to pieces.
Similar to Darkmites and Spectres, Tendrils also has 4 common types, which we shall be calling: Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
Level 1 Tendrils are the most basic form of tendrils. They haven't evolved that much, and because of that, they die after one slice.
Level 2 Tendrils have developed a hairy exterior, which stabilizes their movement. They also have the ability to regrow their lost body parts. However, they can only use this ability once.
Level 3 Tendrils have evolved differently compared to Level 2's. Instead of regrowing lost body parts, they have the ability to split into two. Slicing them once will split them, and another slice will destroy them for good. As a precaution, I advise you to slice them as soon as you see their spiky tip. Otherwise, you're in for a world of hurt.
And lastly, Level 4 Tendrils are the result of the mating between Level 2 and Level 3's. (Please don't ask how they do it.) When they are sliced, they will split into two, and the original body will regrow itself, thereby producing a total of three Tendrils. Slicing them again will kill them for good. Due to their evolutionary adapation, their segments are imprevious to light damage during their regrowth period. These truly are formidable foes and I hope you are fully prepared when you see them.
So there you have it! The three main shadow types that will constantly be out to get you. :D I hope you enjoyed this article, and if you have any questions, comments and/or suggestions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment here, or email us at gamessupport [at] icannhas (dot) com.

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the second article of the Inside Lumos: The Dying Light series! (well, this is technically the third post, but well, technicalities schmechnicalities :p) Today, I'm gonna be talking about another game mode: Blood Moon mode!
So what is the Blood Moon game mode all about? No, it will not turn your nonbasic lands into mountains. And no, it does not have any relationship with the first full moon after the harvest moon. To put it simply, the Blood Moon game mode is the Normal game mode ON STEROIDS.
All the enemies move faster and spawn at a higher rate and their Level 4 versions appear sooner compared to the Normal Mode. Not to mention the game mode also has two new enemy types!
Fogmite - These guys are similar to tap enemies except they appear and move around you in random arrangements. But here's the catch: Once they die, they will leave a dark fog that will stay for quite some time in the area making enemies under them quite hidden. They are pretty annoying too, so watch out for them. Below is a video of them in action:
Warpod - If you've watched the video above, you can see a glimpse of these enemies. Warpods are a special type of enemy that can only be found in this game mode. They are so special that whenever they appear, the background (and bgm) changes with them! That's a fair enough warning of the destruction these creatures may bring.
In order to kill these Warpods, you must draw a circular shape around them! (Mind you, it need not be a perfect circle. An oval-ish shape will do.) And what's more, the large Warpods have 5 lives! Every time they lose a life, they will teleport somewhere closer to you and will churn out 2 baby Warpods (which only have 1 life). Disposing of these enemies without losing life will really take some challenge, and you are very welcome to try your luck! Below is a video of these Warpods in action:
So there you have it. Two new pesky enemies, one new game mode. Are you up for the Blood Moon challenge?

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the first article of Inside Lumos: The Dying Light! In this article, I will be talking about one of the Lumos' game modes: The Night Farer mode.
What's different in the Night Farer mode? Let me count the ways...
So what are Totems? Totems are special powerups unique in this game mode. They can be activated by either (1) tapping them or by (2) absorbing them. Tapping them has a different effect compared to absorbing them, so you have to think quick which effect you would want from the Totem!
Here are the different Totems available:
In general, absorbing Totems will have an effect on your light, while tapping Totems will have an effect on the environment.
I believe it's much better seeing these Totems in action than reading about it, so I will be posting videos later this week, so watch out for them. :D
Lastly, these are not the only Totems that will be in the game. Many more are currently being planned and tested to be released on the next version, so watch out for it too! (I will also be posting the new totems when they are ready).
Go ahead and try out the Night Farer mode of Lumos: The Dying Light if you haven't already!

And since I'm so excited to launch our new game, I'm giving you a sneak peek of what the splash screen looks like!
So there you have it, the title of our new game will be "Lumos: The Dying Light"
[insert intrigue here]
Hello!
